That’s why we were so excited when we heard from Terry, a FitTrack user with a phenomenal story. Before he started tracking more than weight and fat mass alone, Terry weighed 140 kg (nearly 310 lb). Dangerously overweight, he knew he had to take action if he wanted to be healthy and active enough to be there for his daughter. Keep reading to learn more about his inspiring transformation and how Terry used FitTrack to lose over 170 pounds!
Q: What made you decide to use FitTrack?
A: I first saw FitTrack on social media (Instagram I think). I was right away very interested. Because up until then I was only calculating weight and fat mass.
Q: What motivated you to improve your health?
A: I wanted to see my daughter grow up and for her to be proud of me. Losing weight meant everything to me since my adolescence (I’m 40 now). But I never thought I could do it. I just wanted to fit in, to be normal.
I weighed 140 kg, I was prediabetic, and I hate needles! I knew it was finally time to lose weight. And I remember being so happy when I could go to a regular store like H&M and buy clothes.
Q: What did you like about the FitTrack app?
A: Thanks to the app, I could see a minimum weight loss of 200 g/day. It might not sound like a lot, but it was enough to show me I was making progress. I was also able to watch my fat mass going down.
Q: How did FitTrack Dara help you achieve your weight loss goals?
A: The Dara smart scale helped tremendously in two ways.
- I was able to see all of my different data points. The most important metrics for me were the different types of fat mass (visceral and subcutaneous), muscle rate (% of muscle mass in the body), and BMR (basal metabolic rate, which you can use to plan caloric intake).
- It also shows how you fit into the norm by placing your readings on a scale you can use to see how healthy you are. This is very good, as I was able to set my goals for individual metrics.
Q: Where are you now with your weight loss journey?
A: So far everything has been going to plan! I used to be 140 kg and 40+% body fat. Today, I’m 62 kg and 12.5% body fat. I have been counting my calories gram-by-gram. But I have noticed it’s more of sticking to my personal macros which is important. The scale helped me a lot in fine-tuning these. I now do around 1600 cal/day with a 40/30/30 macro split and I’m 175 cm.
